Patna: Activists representing Jan Adhikar Student Parishad (JASP), the student cell of the Pappu Yadav-led Jan Adhikar Party (JAP), on Thursday forced colleges under Patna University to close in protest against the alleged attack on Patna Science College outgoing counselor Karmveer Yadav.

As reported, a group of JASP activists began forcing shutdown at 10:00 am at Patna Science College, Patna Law College, Patna College, Vanijya Mahavidyalaya, and Darbhanga House demanding arrest of yet-to-be-identified criminals who on Wednesday had attacked Yadav within the campus inflicting serious injury to him.

"The way Mr. Yadav was assaulted, it is clear that this was not an isolated act by a disgruntled student. Instead, it was a well-coordinated attack by a criminal gang. We demand a full investigation into it and arrest of all those who were involved in this heinous incident," JASP president Gautam Kumar said.

After forcing colleges to shut down, the protestors then sat on a dharna at the Patna University office to attract the attention of the senior officials.

University Registrar Colonel Manoj Mishra and Proctor G K Palai talked to them and assured them of quick action against the criminals after which the protestors allowed colleges to reopen.
