Patna: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's Tourism Minister and emissary Rita Bahuguna on Friday officially invited Bihar Governor Lalji Tandon, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and other NDA leaders to attend the 2019 Kumbha Mela to be held in Prayagraj, formerly known as Allahabad, that opens on January 19.

Shortly after arriving in Patna on Friday evening, Bahuguna went straight to the Raj Bhawan where she met with the Governor and extended him invitation to visit the Mela as a state guest. She also presented him with some books, brochures, and mementos representing the world-famous fair, a Hindu pilgrimage that takes place at Sangam, the point where three rivers – Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati come together.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader then met with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and BJP Bihar chief Nityanand Rai and also invited them to attend the fair.

Speaking at a function at Hotel Maurya in Patna on Saturday, Bahuguna said that the Prayagraj Kumbha Mela was recognized as a World Heritage site and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, by changing its name from Allahabad to Prayagraj, had once again restored the historical importance of the ancient city.

When asked about the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Bahuguna said that the matter was sub judice in a court and therefore it was not appropriate to discuss it until the court had announced its verdict.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said what has to be said in this matter and that is the official stand of the party. There is no room for discussion on this topic anymore," she said.
