Patna: After four years of singing songs of Narendra Modi calling him from the 'most honest and hard-working politician' to a 'man with the vision', Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) leader Upendra Kushwaha wasted no time in adopting the anti-BJP lingo when on Monday he said that the 10% reservation to the economically-challenged forward caste people offered by the NDA government could be yet another 'jumla' (baloney) by the Prime Minister.
Kushwaha, who recently walked out of the BJP-led NDA after being snubbed by both the BJP and the Nitish-led Janata Dal – U over seat-sharing agreement for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections only to take shelter in the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-led Grand Alliance, speaking at the gathering of Mahagathbandhan leaders over 'Maachh-Bhat' at Miller High School in Patna on Monday, said that this talk about giving 10% reservation to upper caste people with limited financial means appeared to be yet another attempt by the Prime Minister to fool the voters of India.
"I am afraid this announcement has nothing to do with reservation and everything to do with the coming Lok Sabha polls. Even Nitish Kumar had been dangling this carrot before poor upper caste people for a long time and right before each election, he makes this an issue to mislead the voters," he said.
Saying he was a supporter of reservation for upper caste people, the former NDA leader, however, added that the government must release the census report broken down on caste basis so other caste members with financial disability could take advantage of the offer.
"People of India and particularly the upper caste people are tired of Modi's false promises. If the Prime Minister really means it this time, he needs to pass it in the Parliament now and not wait till election results are declared," he said.
RJD acting chief Tejaswi Yadav, Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) leader Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Nishad leader Mukesh Sahni were also present on the occasion.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
