Patna: With the ‘Jan Akanksha Rally’ only a couple of days away, Congress leaders in Patna shifted into top gear to ensure the visit of party president Rahul Gandhi, who is to deliver a speech at the historical Gandhi Maidan, was smooth and a giant success in terms of winning support of the voters.

Bihar in-charge of the Congress Party, Shakti Singh Gohil, accompanied by Campaign Committee chairperson Akhilesh Prasad Singh and Bihar Congress president Madan Mohan Jha on Thursday paid a visit to the Gandhi Maidan to review readiness for the rally where, according to Congress officials, leaders representing various parties opposed to the NDA from five states would be present.

“This is going to be a unique rally that would be attended by members of all Mahagathbandhan parties. We have extended invitation to all of them and they all have agreed to participate in the rally,” Gohil said.

Taking on the Modi government on a number of issues, the Congress leader said that unlike Prime Minister Modi, Rahul Gandhi believed in work and not just talking big.

“BJP failed to implement 13 rosters in universities that he had said he would take care of it in the first 100 days of his administration. Rahul Gandhi made promises in three states and after Congress’ victory in those states, he kept his words in three days,” he said.

They also reviewed the security arrangement at the Gandhi Maidan and asked the administration to leave no stone unturned in making the venue secure from all sides.

It may be recalled that at this very avenue in 2013 during Modi’s Hunkar Rally, terrorists exploded several bombs across the city killing five persons and injuring scores.

Meanwhile, Congress posters with images of Rahul Gandhi have popped up throughout the state capital in anticipation of his much-hyped rally on February 3.
