Patna: A day after Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) leader Jitan Ram Manjhi blamed the Congress Party of causing chaos within the Grand Alliance in Bihar over seat-sharing issue, Congress leaders in Patna fired back at him saying his allegations were baseless as Congress had never asked for a certain number of seats within the Mahagathbandhan.

Talking to the reporters following the induction of new members of the party at a function at Sadaqat Ashram in Patna, Bihar Congress president Madan Mohan Jha said Manjhi was taking out his frustration on Congress because he was not getting enough attention within the Grand Alliance.

“Manjhi’s allegations are baseless as we have never made any demand in this regard. The alliance has not even held a meeting of all the parties to discuss seat-sharing so how can he say that we have demanded for a certain number of seats?” Jha asked.

The former Chief Minister of Bihar had earlier met with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and the leader of the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar Lalu Prasad Yadav at his jail cell in Ranchi where he was assured that he would do what was best for the alliance in the state.

As reported before, Manjhi has declared his party the third largest party in the Grand Alliance insisting, as such, he deserved more seats than two newcomers in the alliance, namely Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) and Mukesh Sahni’s Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP).

To further muddy the water, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Patna have extended invitation to the former Chief Minister of Bihar to return to the NDA fold causing even more confusion within the Manjhi camp.
