Patna: With the Grand Alliance in Bihar on the verge of collapse due to disagreement between the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress over seat-sharing, the previously-scheduled induction of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shatrughan Sinha into Congress party was once again delayed until April 6.
Sinha, who is ready to quit the BJP after the party he had been a lifelong member of dropped him from the Patna Saheb seat and instead decided to field Ravi Shankar Prasad, was scheduled to join Congress today at a function in Delhi. However, due to the in-fighting in the Bihar Mahagathbandhan over seat-sharing, the event was delayed till April 6.
The former actor-turned-politician though met with Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday during which both showered each other with praise.
“Promising to pay all those living below poverty line a minimum income of Rs. 72,000 per annum was a stroke of genius by Rahul Gandhi,” said Sinha adding he will now join Congress after Navaratri.
Later Congress Bihar in-charge Shakti Singh Gohil confirmed that Sinha was now going to be inducted into the party on April 6.
