Patna: Afraid that he might not be able to hold his seat from Karakat constituency, Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) chief Upendra Kushwaha on Wednesday announced his candidacy from two seats leaving four seats for other members of his party.

Besides Karakat, Kushwaha, a former partner in the NDA and a minister in the Narendra Modi government, at a press conference in Patna, announced his decision to contest from Ujiarpur as well where he will be in direct fight with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Nityanand Rai.

“I will be filing my nomination papers for Karakat on April 9 and for Ujiarpur seat on April 25,” he said adding he was confident he would defeat the JD-U candidate in Karakat and the BJP candidate in Ujiarpur.

Kushwaha also announced the names of candidates for the remaining undecided seats with Akash Kumar Singh, son of Congress Rajya Sabha MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh, contesting from East Champaran and fellow caste-member Brijesh Kumar Kushwaha from the West Champaran seat.

With the party chief keeping two seats for himself, the fifth and last RLSP candidate is Bhudeo Chowdhary who was earlier announced for Jamui, a reserved seat.
