Patna: In an attempt clearly intended to irk Patna's very own and Bihar's first Bollywood superstar Shatrughan Sinha, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah on Saturday held a massive road-show in Sinha's own backyard ahead of the seventh phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in which the former BJP leader now with Congress is pitted against another Patna'ite and Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.
With people from the balconies and roof-tops sprinkling flower and flower petals on the procession, the caravan reached Thakurbari Road, merely a distance of less than a quarter of a kilometer, in another ten minutes. From there it passed through the Bari Path, Bakerganj, and Udyog Bhawan, formerly known as Apna Bazaar, finally culminating at the Kargil Chowk at 7:55 pm.
All this while, BJP supporters wearing 'Main Bhi Chowkidar' caps chanted pro-Narendra Modi, pro-BJP, and pro-Ravi Shankar Prasad slogans.
Shah was accompanied by the Patna Saheb candidate Ravi Shankar Prasad, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, Nand Kishore Yadav, Giriraj Singh, Nityanand Rai, Arun Kumar Sinha, Sanjeev Chaurasia, Nitin Navin and other BJP leaders.
Meanwhile, Congress leaders in Patna called Shah's road-show in Kadam Kuan a sign of desperation and a last-minute political stunt in a city that took pride in its son-of-the-soil Shatrughan Sinha.
Talking to reporters, Congress leader Premchand Mishra said that the decision to hold a road-show in Kadam Kuan also exposed the low mentality of the 'saffronists'.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
