Heavy Security Around A N College Where Votes are to be Tallied

Patna: District administration in Patna has made elaborate security arrangement both inside and outside A N College in Patna where electronic voting machines (EVMs) from hundreds of polling booths in the district remain under lock and key only to be opened on Thursday when the counting of votes for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections begins.

The college campus has virtually been turned into an army camp where dozens of heavily-armed security jawans guard the EVMs round the clock to maintain posterity of the entire counting process.

In order to avoid any trouble or untoward incident, the district administration has issued directives to block traffic at both ends of Boring Road effective immediately until the counting process is completed late Thursday afternoon.

As recalled, Patna, with two of its constituencies – Pataliputra and Patna Saheb – represented by high-profile candidates like Congress Party's Shatrughan Sinha and Bharatiya Janata Party's Ravi Shankar Prasad – both from Patna Saheb seat; and Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter Misa Bharti and BJP incumbent Ram Kripal Yadav from Pataliputra, is on the mind of everyone as supporters of each candidate wait with bated breath to find the poll results.

Similar arrangement was reported from Gaya and Bhagalpur where counting will also begin on Thursday morning.
