Patna: Opposition leaders in Bihar, with the shock of the most brutal beating of their political life now showing sign of tapering off, are now beginning to speak out their mind mostly in the form of criticism that casts doubt on the entire electoral process allegedly managed by the 'Modi Machinery'.
On Saturday, former Bihar Chief Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi, at a press conference in Patna, said that the Lok Sabha poll results were unexpected and strange in many ways as reports of irregularities came in from many polling booths in Bihar including his own constituency in Gaya where he lost to Janata Dal – U candidate Vijay Kumar by a margin of 152,426 votes.
Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of 'successfully marketing' the surgical strike on terrorist camps in Pakistan and claiming 'ownership' on nationalism and patriotism, Manjhi said that the opposition had no answer to such propaganda and therefore, lost at 39 out of 40 seats in Bihar and majority of the seats across the nation.
"Indian armed forces and nationalism were used as a marketing ploy to appeal to the sentiments of the Indian youths. They created an atmosphere where questioning them was an act of treason and only the NDA leaders were the true patriots. We had no answer to such poll strategy," the former CM said.
Accusing the BJP of politicizing the death of Indian soldiers in Pulwama, Manjhi said that in 1971, under the leadership of the then Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Indian army had crushed the Pakistani side that led to its split and carving of Bangladesh.
"Over 93,000 Pakistani soldiers had surrendered before the Indian army and yet Mrs. Gandhi did not politicize her victory to win elections. Compared to that, Pulwama was a very minor incident but the current BJP under the leadership of Modi and Shah, used the death of the Indian soldiers to advance their political agenda," he said.
Continuing to cast aspersion on the authenticity of Pulwama incident, Manji said that the army, before the terrorist attack, had asked to be airlifted but the Indian government rejected their demand.
"Why were their demand rejected? Moreover, how did the terrorists managed to penetrate the army motorcade with 300 kilograms of explosives? This whole election was fixed like cricket matches and technology and social media was used to fix this match," the HAM leader said adding the Modi-Shah team never once mentioned the promises it had made in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
