Patna: In what appeared to be a case of murder-suicide, a Patna businessman on Monday night shot his wife, two sons, and a daughter to death before pulling the trigger on himself at his home in Kidwaipuri area and Kotwali police station.
As reported, the family with no apparent history of dispute or tension, lived on the third floor of the house. His brother and his family lived on the second floor. The two families were known to have morning tea together when on Tuesday morning Sarraf and his wife failed to join them, Sarraf's sister-in-law went upstairs to check on them. She found the door locked from inside and when repeated knocking on the door failed to yield any result, she informed her husband who had a duplicate key to get inside the flat.
Once inside, Sarraf's younger brother Pappu Sarraf discovered the horrific scene involving four dead bodies. Somehow the youngest victim Ishan was still breathing. He was rushed to a private hospital in Raja Bazaar where he shortly died.
Police found a suicide note written in English in which Ashok Sarraf confesses of killing his family and ending his own life. It did not mention the reason for committing such a horrendous crime.
Three empty cartridge shells, some mobile phones were among many items that police found from the crime scene.
Officials said that though it appeared a case of murder-suicide, police would be investigating it from various angles.
Ashok Sarraf was the owner of several clothing and jewelry shops in Patna, including one in Khetan Market. He was the oldest of four brothers including Kishore Sarraf, Munna Sarraf, and Pappu Sarraf.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
