Patna: Patna is gearing up to celebrate Bakr-Eid on August 12 in a big way as could be seen in areas with large Muslim concentration like Station Road, Sabzi Bagh, Bakerganj, Ashok Rajpath, Patna City, and Phulwari Sharif that lit up with colorful lights as shopkeepers remained busy stocking up on their inventory to meet the ever-growing demand of the community.
Goats from various parts of the country including Allahabad, Ajmer, Etawah, Delhi, Jaipur, and Moradabad were on display at the goat market as customers lined up to find the best sacrificial goat for them that makes part of the celebratory festival.
Meanwhile, district administration has ordered heightened security in the state capital as followers of Islam will gather at Patna's Gandhi Maidan and dozens of mosques in the state capital to offer Eid Namaz this Wednesday at 8:00 am.
Patna District Magistrate Kumar Ravi on Saturday held a high-level meeting of top brass to review the preparations for Eid-ul-Zuha, also known as Bakr-Eid, that begins on Sunday evening and ends on Monday night.
The DM directed all SDOs and other top officials ensure heavy security arrangement at all public places and entry points to avoid any attempt to incite communal violence and asked them to pay particular attention to mosques and burial grounds that are often the targets of trouble-makers.
Meanwhile, a number of security cameras inside and around Gandhi Maidan, hundreds of security officials, drinking water and first-aid kiosks, fire trucks, and ambulances have been ordered to be kept inside the sprawling field where more than 100,000 people are expected to gather to offer Namaz.
