Law Enforcement Fraternity Honors its Own

Patna: A number of Bihar police officials, at a function organized by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Saturday, were honored for their role in fighting crime in the state.

The function was presided over by Bihar Home Department Joint Chief Secretary Amir Subahani.

Among those recognized by the CID included men and women of the Bihar police department, Public Prosecutors, Forensic Science Lab (FSL) experts, and a handful of ordinary citizens for their heroics in fighting crime.

Prominent among those who were honored with citations and mementos included Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Garima Malik, Jitendra Kumar, Kantesh Kumar Mishra for solving the Panchvati Ratnalaya armed robbery case under Rajiv Nagar Police station leading to the arrest of the criminals and recovery of the stolen items.

Barh Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Lipi Singh was also recognized for her role in the arrest of criminal-turned-legislator Anant Singh and the arrest of four criminals with a large cache of sophisticated arms in their possession.

Patna Railway Police SP Sujit Kumar, Siwan SP Navin Chandra Jha, former Bagaha SP Arvind Kumar Gupta, Darbhanga SP Babu Ram, Bettiah SP Jayantkant, Motihari SP Upendra Kumar Sharma, Munger SP Dr. Gaurav Mangla, Madhepura SP Sanjay Kumar, and Purnia SP Vishal Sharma.

Constable Rahul Kumar was given a cash prize for bringing a gold medal in the All India Police Duty Meet held earlier this year.

Besides 178 members of the police fraternity, two ordinary citizens were also honored on the occasion. They included Madhubani journalist Kumar Gaurav who, risking his own life, saved two men from a lynch mob that had mistaken the two as child abductors, and Patna resident Shravan Kumar who bravely chased a robber running away with Rs. 1.70 lakh that he snatched from someone and recovering the money.

Two FSL experts Himjay Kumar and Ajay Kumar were also recognized for their work in solving crime in Bihar.
