Patna: Former Union Minister and the president of the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) Upendra Kushwaha, eager to revive his political fortune after his party's decimation in the last Lok Sabha elections, at a press conference in Patna on Sunday said that he would work towards expanding the Grand Alliance that would also include all left parties of India.
Like nearly all politicians who don't want to let a birth or death anniversary of a deceased politician go to waste, Kushwaha said that the Grand Alliance of which he is a part of, along with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), will hold a grand convention at Bapu Sabhagar in Patna on October 12 to coincides with the death anniversary of veteran socialist Ram Manohar Lohia.
The RLSP leader, who is the coordinator of this convention, said that invitations to join the Grand Alliance will be sent to all non-NDA parties, including the Communist Party of India and its various iterations, to strengthen the Mahagathbandhan in order to remove the Nitish-led NDA government from Bihar.
Kushwaha, who has been making frequent visit to the Ranchi jail where RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav is serving over 14 years in connection with the multi-crore rupees fodder scam, said that even the former Chief Minister of Bihar was in favor of forming alliance with the Communist parties to successfully take on Nitish Kumar in the next year's Assembly elections.
"We will also contest the by-polls in Bihar together under the banner of the Mahagathbandhan," he said adding former Bihar Chief Minister and leader of the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) Jitan Ram Manjhi, despite his recent utterances about possibly leaving the Grand Alliance, was very much with it and will continue to remain so.
Meanwhile, Congress leaders in Bihar have already hinted about leaving the alliance unless a Congress leader was the face of the Chief Ministerial candidate in the next state elections – a condition not agreeable to either RJD's Tejaswi Yadav or Upendra Kushwaha himself.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
