Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday inaugurated a 639-bed girl's hostel in Magadh Mahila College campus in the presence of Patna University Vice Chancellor Dr. Ras Bihari Singh, Bihar Education Minister Krishna Nandan Prasad Verma and others.
Kumar also touted a number of schemes including Student Credit Card designed to ease the financial burden on students due to its low interest rate and the new gold medal scheme that includes a cash reward of Rs. 31,000 to the winners.
The Chief Minister who is very big in doling out cash to different groups further said that the government will hand out Rs. 25,000 to all bachelor degree-holder girls and Rs. 10,000 to all girls passing the12th grade.
The Janata Dal – U leader also talked about his latest ambitious scheme known as 'Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali' which follows his previous mega scheme otherwise known as 'Seven Resolves'.
"We will launch this program from October 2 to coincide with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Under this scheme, we will begin a brand-new work in each Panchayat and will connect every single village under it," he said.
