Patna: A day after holding a meeting of the party's minority cell leaders, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejaswi Yadav, in an obvious attempt to muddy the political water in Bihar, said that it was becoming increasingly evident that Nitish Kumar will not be the Chief Ministerial face of the NDA in the 2020 state elections.

"I have reports from very credible sources that the BJP has already decided to sideline Nitish Kumar and replace him with a BJP face in the 2020 Assembly elections. The RJD, however, will never make any kind of pact with the Janata Dal – U. If Nitish Kumar has guts, he should try to win an election on his own," Yadav said at a function at Shri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna on Thursday where the party leaders had gathered to welcome and induct former JD-U leader and legislator Azad Gandhi into the RJD.

Calling Nitish Kumar a man without principle, the RJD leader said that it would be better for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to get a written pledge from Nitish Kumar declaring he won't once again betray the party and join hands with others.

"No one takes Nitish Kumar seriously because of his history of backstabbing those who had supported him at one time or another. The state is reeling with cases of corruption but the administration is busy blaming them on mice and ghosts. RJD guarantees 60% share in the party organization to extreme backward community members and with the support of Dalits, backwards, and minorities, we will defeat the communal forces in Bihar and once again restore secular values in the state," the former Deputy Chief Minister said.
