Patna: Apparently having bounced back from the severe backlash caused by epic water-logging in Patna just a few weeks ago and the embarrassment caused by his party’s drubbing in the just-concluded Assembly by-polls, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday laid the foundation stones of 32,781 new projects in Bihar with a price tag of over Rs. 1,359.27 crore.

Kumar, who holds a record of sort for launching more than 8 lakh projects, many of which never lived to see the light of the day, since becoming the Chief Minister of Bihar nearly 15 years ago, using a remote control, laid the foundation stone of 32,781 new projects under his new mission dubbed as ‘Jal Jivan Hariyali Abhiyan (JJHA)’ at a function held at Gyan Bhawan in Patna.

The event was organized by the state Agriculture department.

The Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, and his ministers appeared impressed with high-school level of clay model of many of his projects as the moved along with one model to another that portrayed of a perfect Bihar where nature was at its best and farmers lived in a blissful state - an image frequently conjured up by government officials to present a visual shape of Kumar’s vision and far-sightedness.

In his speech, the Chief Minister provided a lot of numbers and how the money would be spent in panchayats and blocks to bring full green revolution that would turn Bihar into a place that other states would be envious of.

With the novelty of his previous mission known as ‘Seven Resolves’ practically dying a natural bureaucratic death, Kumar is now promoting the JJHA as his signature project that he says would change the face of Bihar as everyone knows it today.

Rest of his speech included his accomplishments in the area of household electricity, road development, and tap water in each home.

Kumar also patted his own back saying even the Center was now following his model of development. He also talked about a number of bureaucratic processes that including special committees to monitor and review progress in the JJH campaign and how they would be held responsible if the goals were not achieved in timely fashion.
