Patna: Former Central Minister and Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) chief Upendra Kushwaha, with his anemic party popularity in Bihar following his defeat in the last Lok Sabha elections, announced his decision on Saturday to sit on a 'fast unto death' dharna on November 26 to coincide with the Constitution Day of India.

Kushwaha, who has a long history of engaging in such acts without any success, said his fast unto death was for the welfare of the students and will be carried out under the banner of 'Shiksha Sudhar, Nahin To Jeevan Bekaar'.

"The Nitish government is responsible for not providing lands for Central Schools (Kendriya Vidyalaya) in Bihar despite the green signal by the central government. For this, I will write letters to all political parties and will personally meet with their leaders," he said at the press conference in Patna.

Kushwaha further said that I had given an ultimatum to the Bihar government about a month ago to provide lands for Kendriya Vidyalaya in Bihar or else he would sit on a fast unto death.

"That deadline has passed and now I am going to keep my promise by sitting on this dharna on November 26," he said.

Interestingly, in the recent history, not one politician has died as a result of this 'fast unto death' drama that invariably fizzles out nearly hundred percent of the time as the person observing the fast readily agrees to break the fast once a few of his supporters 'beg' him to live and to continue to fight for just cause.
