New Delhi: Keeping the upcoming Assembly elections in Bihar in mind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid an unannounced visit to the 'Hunar Haat' organized at Raj Path near India Gate in New Delhi where he was photographed relishing Bihar's famous 'litti-chokha' outside a Bihari food stall.

The Prime Minister posted the pictures of him enjoying litti-chokha, along with other pictures, on his Twitter feed.

"Had tasty Litti Chokha for lunch along with a hot cup of tea... #HunarHaat", Mr. Modi wrote.

In another image, he is seen sipping tea in a 'kulhar' (earthen cup) with some other people.

Officials said Mr. Modi paid Rs. 120 for the litti-chokha and Rs. 40 for two cups of tea from his own pocket.

He was accompanied by Union Minister Mukhtar Naqvi.

Hunar Haat is organized by the Ministry of Minority Affairs and will go on till February 23. Artisans, cooks, and craftsmen have come from all parts of the country to participate in the fair.

Mr. Modi's decision to single out the litti-chokha stand is being seen as a shrewd political move ahead of Bihar Assembly elections where he has to win the voters' confidence as a man who understood Bihar and its people better than the local politicians like Lalu Prasad Yadav and his once friend and advisor Prashant Kishor.
